Microgynon 50

Are you currently taking Microgynon 50?

As of January 2021, Doctors in Australia have been advised not to prescribe Microgynon 50 any longer. This is due to the larger dose of synthetic Estrogen in this particular contraceptive pill which puts women at a higher risk of blood clots. However, if you are taking Microgynon 50 currently, don’t just stop taking it. Do get in touch with your health care provider who can assess your personal situation and counsel you about other alternatives.

Long-acting reversible contraceptive devices like the Mirena IUD or the Kyleena IUD – a mini IUD with fewer hormones – amongst other options – might be suitable for you.
